Grovecrest Choir Standards
Work Habits, Attitude, and Behavior: Choir students are expected to rehearse during class with a cooperative and positive attitude. This includes being prompt for 8am rehearsals, listening to and following the directions of the teacher, only talking during our designated chat times, participating in all activities in the rehearsal, respecting the teacher, and respecting the other students in the class.
Attendance and Tardiness: It is important that every choir student is present and on time to every class so that they can participate in ALL the aspects of the rehearsal. We take roll promptly at 8am, and our warm-up time is vital to having a productive rehearsal. The students have a lot of material to learn, with limited rehearsal time, and it is not fair to the other students when we have to repeat material from previous rehearsals. Continued tardiness and absences may result in a dismissal from Choir. If a class is missed, the student needs to ask the director or another student what they missed and learn it before the next class. I know that sicknesses and other things happen, but please stay in contact with me as much as possible so that I can help your child succeed and
enjoy their choir experience!
A parent note or email must excuse each absence. Please email me at [email protected] if your child will need to miss more than 2 rehearsals in a row, so that I know if they are wanting to continue with the choir. Students must be at the rehearsals prior to the performances. If a student misses more than 4 rehearsals during the season without contacting Mrs. Hubert, he/she may be asked to leave the choir so that a child from the
waiting list can take their spot.
Probation: A student will be placed on probation if they are unable to meet the Choir Standards. The parents and student will be notified when they are placed on probation. If the student fails to improve within a reasonable time frame, they will be dismissed from Choir so that other students on the waiting list
have the opportunity to join.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DISMISS A STUDENT FROM CHOIR IF BEHAVIOR IS NOT IMPROVED AFTER IT HAS BEEN ADDRESSED AND GIVEN PROPER WARNING.
